The Silent Crisis June and Mens Mental Health Awareness
Over 1.6 million men try every single year. Over 500,000 men die. Those are the staggering numbers we lose to suicide annually. June is Mens Mental Health Awareness Month. Not many people will be talking about it. Not many people even know it exists. But we are going to talk about it right here.
Suffer In Silence No More
Too often men suffer in complete silence. We are told to man up toughen up keep our heads down and push our emotions aside. We are taught that vulnerability is a weakness. But it is completely okay to not be okay and still be a man. Carrying that heavy burden alone is what breaks us.
Put the Weight Down
If you need someone to talk to reach out. Do whatever you need to do so you are not carrying the weight of the world on your back. Sooner or later if you have nowhere to put that massive weight it will crush you. I have been in that dark place. I know exactly what it feels like to wonder if tomorrow is even worth it. But it is.
Take the Next Step
You might not see the entire path ahead right now but you can always take the very next step. You do not have to pretend that everything is perfect because sometimes it is not. Sit with the pain if you need to. Cry yell or scream. Do whatever you need to do to process what you are feeling. Just do not let it consume you because it has consumed far too many already. Keep going. When it is all said and done you will get through this. You are not alone.
