News Bites; Air Transport Workers Want End to Industrial Dispute

The President of Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Comrade Benjamin Okeowo, has called on stakeholders of the Ministry of Aviation, to chart an amicable way of resolving the looming industrial disputes  that is creating tension in the ministry.
Okeowo made the disclosure, while reacting to enquiries on the grievances being expressed by some of the workers at the ministry’s headquarter in Abuja. He hinted that ATSSSAN was aware of the looming crisis in the ministry over workers complaints about the way the Permanent Secretary is handling workers welfare.
While advising on the way out of the brewing crisis, he said: “We hope that the local union would explore all available channels to reconciling their differences between the workers and the Permanent Secretary.”
He however confirmed that the chairman will be meeting with her this weekend, adding that the report of imminent labour crisis is rife in the ministry.

The chairman, Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council (JCNC), Mr. Hector Nnandi, was also not forthcoming as all efforts made to reach him on his mobile lines were thwarted as the numbers were said not to be available.
