The Green Shift
There is a quiet intensity in the air today that usually only comes with a major change in season. Standing inside this small greenhouse I can feel the humidity building as the morning sun hits the glass. It is officially Earth Day 2026 and for the first time in months the world outside actually feels like it is catching up to the vision.
The transition in Winnipeg is moving at a massive pace right now. We are warming to twenty-two degrees today and you can practically hear the city breathing a sigh of relief. The remaining ice on the streets is disappearing by the hour. I decided to start my morning here working with the soil instead of sitting in my work space. There is something grounding about handling young vegetable starts and preparing them for the heat.
Growth is never a coincidence. It is the result of getting the environment right and being patient with the process. As the city warms up and everyone rushes to get back outside I am choosing to focus on stewardship. Taking care of what we have is the only way to ensure we have something to build on later.
I am spending the next hour planting these seeds and clearing my head. The rest of the week will be loud so I am leaning into this silence while it lasts.
Stay grounded.
